CBA Open Day – Saturday 18th July 2015

Our third Open Day of the year was held in conjunction with the Council of British Archaeology’s “Festival of Archaeology 2015″.  This was the first Open Day since receiving our Visit England’s Quality Assured Visitor Attraction accreditation and visitors, young and old alike, all seemed to go away satisfied and with nice things to say.

Whenever we hold Open Days, people often turn up with artefacts they have found and are interested in finding out more about.  At the next Open Day why not take advantage of our volunteers expertise and see what we can tell you about something you might have found.

Meet the Vikings Open Day – Sunday 10th May 2015

Our second Open Day of the year and we were pleased to host the The Battle of Stamford Bridge Society, the friendliest group of Vikings you’d ever wish to meet.  Visitors were treated to demonstrations of viking games and pastimes along with explanations of replica weapons and clothing.  A sample of the forthcoming tapestry was also available to view.

We like to think we treat all our visitors with enthusiasm, answer as many questions as possible and do our upmost to help.  This was borne out by the results of our “mystery shopper”, an assessor from Visit England, who I’m pleased to say awarded us a score of 100% for our customer engagement.  The assessment also gave us feedback as to how we can improve but at our next Open Day we will be proudly displaying our new certificate!
