Heritage Open Day – 12th September 2015

The day started with heavy showers but that didn’t deter our visitors.  Right from opening we were very busy and the “hands on” activities were, as always, “full on”!

We welcomed our friends from the Jorvik DIG team who were on hand to show artefacts from York with a number of participation activities to complement our own.

Here’s a quote from one visitor who was kind enough to visit our Facebook page after their visit.

“I visited today with my sister for the first time. What an amazing place. A real credit to you all. Not only did we enjoy looking at the local finds, but also had fun trying out grinding the wheat and weaving. I will certainly come again and recommend it to others.”

Thanks again to all our volunteers, visitors and friends from Jorvik DIG.  That was our last Open Day of the year but if you want to arrange a private visit, please get in touch.  Alternatively, we will look forward to welcoming you next year.  Keep checking back on the website as we’ll be running Community Archaeology projects in the coming weeks and months.

Seen you soon!
